Cornell & Diehl Bijou is one of those blends that was made with patience in mind. It starts with 2003-crop Red Virginia, paired with Greek Katerini Orientals and just a touch of honey to bring everything together. The tobacco is layered, pressed, and sliced into flakes, giving the leaf plenty of opportunity to continue developing in the tin.

Bijou is part of C&D’s Cellar Series, and they built this one specifically to reward some time on the shelf—suggesting 10 to 15 years for it to really come into its own. Smoke one now and you’ll understand what they were going for. Put a few away, and you may thank yourself down the road.

“Bijou” is French for “jewel.” Considering the vintage leaf and the aging potential, the name makes a whole lot of sense.
